From the beginning |
Our Mission |
In May of 2022 Sequoia Crissman and Cory Busch, two life-long friends since 2nd grade, were having a conversation about their desire for a creative outlook. Both had been involved in theatre, Sequoia since middle school and Cory since highschool. Both doing theatre in college, Cory proposed putting on a show. The two talked a bit further and decided they would want to continue pursuing theatre and decided to start their very own theatre company. Going off the motif they were chasing their dreams without turning back, Dreamline Theatre Company became official in mid May.
The two had worked indirectly prior to starting the theatre company when Sequoia reached out to Cory asking him to write a play for her senior capstone project at Jewell. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic theatre had become limited, but Sequoia still passionate and driven to keep producing theatre wanted a show where it made sense in the world for the characters to be wearing masks. So, it felt more natural than forced. This created the first development of “Cardboard Knight” and ultimately got the two friends talking together again despite going to different colleges. |
Dreamline Theatre is dedicated to inclusion and accessibility both on and off the stage. Dreamline Theatre seeks equity and inclusion in their performances by color-blind casting. As well as understanding how frustrating it can be to have a desire to create and express creativity; Dreamline enjoys offering opportunities to both newly-starting artists looking to implement their talents and artists who have been hoening their craft for a while. As it is the company’s belief that ability and talent does not lie in time, but in ambition and the desire to become better. Dreamline puts an emphasis on community as Kansas City has always been a city of artists and we strive to bring more of it wherever we can all throughout the greater metro area.
In every event, we strive for our participants to explore their potential through imagination, originality, and innovation. |
